BEST in the Community funding aims to ease disadvantage in our communties and BEST is extremely proud to donate $250 to an essential service in Lightning Ridge, the Lightning Ridge Neighbourhood Centre.

The funding will be use for their 'Get into Governance' Program which will provide management training within the organisation, with the aim to better volunteers and board members to assist the local community.

"We help a lot of people." Said Jeanette Walsh, a volunteer of four years.

The centre provides a range of services and do a wonderful job catering to the needs to the community.

"With better informed management we can provide better services to the community. We assist the community with meals loans, emergency relief, supermarket vouchers, fuel and gas. We have a technology centre and a neighbourhood centre where their is an iron and a sowing machine, where anyone can pop in. Anyone can access this. I think there needs to be one of these in every town." said long serving volunteer, Rose Bownds.
