Banking with a Difference

Commonwealth Bank Inverell branch employees have donated $500 to the BEST Community Shed as part of a nationwide community donation program. The bank’s Inverell branch team voted to support the work of the BEST Community Shed, and bank representatives visited the Shed shop on Tuesday morning to present the donation.

“We’re very excited to have the opportunity to support the BEST Community Shed,” Commonwealth Bank Inverell branch manager Christie Hall said.

“In particular, BEST Community Shed created the shed as a social network to help build and grow a stronger community, taking preloved furniture and rehoming it with all profits donated straight back to the Inverell community. So, it’s great to be able to give back and support this work.”

The local donation is part of $500,000 the bank has pledged nationally for organisations making a difference in communities.

BEST Community Shed store coordinator Robyn Kenny accepted the donation on Tuesday morning alongside a team of store volunteers.

“We really appreciate Commonwealth Bank for thinking of us and acknowledging the work everybody does here, and the support of the community,” she said.

Her feelings were shared by BEST Employment chief executive officer Penny Alliston-Hall.

“It is humbling to be chosen for our Inverell branch’s Commonwealth Bank Community Donation Program,” Mrs Alliston Hall said.

“The Shed is a true effort between our community and volunteers working together to change lives, and this donation is gratefully accepted to keep that mission moving forward.”
